Among the villages overlooking the lake, Cannero Riviera stands out for its authentic atmosphere and exceptional natural setting. Known for its mild microclimate and Mediterranean vegetation, the village is home to what is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on Lake Maggiore, ideal for swimming, relaxing or simply enjoying the scenery.
Just behind it lies the Parco degli Agrumi, a unique Citrus Park where lemon and citrus trees thrive outdoors thanks to the area’s favourable climate. The park is also home to sculptures donated by the artist Enrico Cotti, blending nature, art and local identity in a truly distinctive setting.
The historic centre of Cannero Riviera reveals another side of the village. Its ancient harbour, colourful façades and peaceful atmosphere reflect the timeless charm of Lake Maggiore’s lakeside towns. Along the long pedestrian promenade, visitors can admire flower-filled gardens, Mediterranean plants and uninterrupted views over the lake, the new harbour and the iconic Cannero Castles rising from the water.
Recently reopened to the public after an extensive restoration completed in 2025, the Cannero Castles have once again become one of the lake’s most remarkable attractions. Owned and restored by the Borromeo family, these historic fortresses are now accessible to visitors and stand as a powerful symbol of the village’s history and identity.
Open to the public, the small Ethnographic and Brush Museum also offers a glimpse into everyday life from the past, preserving objects and traditions deeply connected to the local culture.
