Events in Cannero Riviera

Cannero Riviera Citrus Festival (March): One of the village’s most beloved events, the Citrus Festival celebrates the extraordinary citrus heritage of Cannero Riviera. Gardens usually closed to the public open their gates, while exhibitions, markets and special menus bring the whole village to life with the colours and fragrances of lemons, oranges and camellias.
Camellia Exhibition (March): Spring also marks the blooming season of camellias around Lake Maggiore. During the exhibition, visitors can admire countless varieties of flowers displayed throughout the village and surrounding gardens.
Feast of the Madonna del Carmine (July): Held on the second Sunday of July, this traditional patronal celebration is one of the most evocative events in Cannero Riviera. In the evening, a solemn procession dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel departs from the main church and winds through the streets toward the lakeside promenade. Carried by devoted volunteers, the statue of the Madonna pauses at significant points along the route while prayers are read in different languages, invoking protection for all those living around and visiting the lake. During the procession, hundreds of lit candles are placed on the water, creating a moving and unforgettable atmosphere reflected across the lake at night. The following Monday, a procession of flower-decorated boats accompanies the parish priest toward the Cannero Castles and the lake’s smallest island, where a commemorative ceremony honours those who have passed away, remembered beside the quiet waters of Lake Maggiore.
Mid-August Cannerese (August): During Ferragosto celebrations, Cannero Riviera becomes particularly lively with music, entertainment and festive evenings along the lakefront.

Events in Verbania & Stresa

Year-round shows at Il Maggiore theatre, Verbania: Throughout the year, the modern Il Maggiore theatre hosts concerts, performances and cultural events overlooking Lake Maggiore.
Stresa Festival (from July to September): The internationally renowned Stresa Festival brings classical music concerts to some of the lake’s most beautiful and atmospheric venues, attracting artists and audiences from around the world.
